Texas County Emergency Response Team

Behavioral Health and Crisis Response Unit

Supporting our Community and First Responders in times of crisis.

the Medical Reserve Corps is a federal program managed by the Texas County Emergency Response Team

Welcome

We are a volunteer-led program under the Texas County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)

Our trained volunteers deploy side-by-side with TCERT during disasters, critical incidents and prolonged operations to provide immediate psychological first-aid, peer support, and stress-first-aid to first responders, volunteers and affected community members using nationally recognized MRC and SAMHSA approved protocols.

*We are not licensed therapists and do not provide ongoing counseling or therapy. We are part of the on-scene response team. We are a support for our community - helping everyone to stay strong when it matters most.

Rural communities are some of the most underserved

More than 127 million Americans or 37%, live in a designated mental health professional shortage area. (HRSA, 2025)

The ones that save lives in our community are some of the most underserved.

First Responders face unique trauma exposure and suicide-risk and stigma remains a barrier in the fire/ems service. (IAFF)

Nationwide , only 26.9% of mental health needs are being met.
